How to Get Started:
To create a lead profitable teams a leader must:
- Walk the values talk by demonstrating respect, integrity, and customer focus in all they do
- Create a "Big Why" for change
- Use a different way of thinking about the people and problems
- Create and implement a compelling plan for improvement
- Use more influence and less authority to inspire action
Align the management team on a need to change:
Getting started is all about having an alignment of management. Alignment means the entire management team is aware of the problem, understands the severity and agrees something must be done. Increasing trust in the organization must begin with all Senior Management agreeing that a change is needed. Management must first admit that the trust level is too low to accomplish the strategic initiatives they want to accomplish. Aligning management on a need to change often requires a facilitator. A Management Assessment tool is critical to create this alignment. This tool anonymously collects opinions from management about the level of trust, respect, and the willingness and ability for the culture to admit mistakes, solve problems, and continuously learn.
Align the management team on a different way of thinking:
Once Management is aligned on the need to change, they must challenge the way they are currently thinking. The “Values and System Management Model” is the most effective problem solving theory available today. This theory helps create trust by drawing a distinction between those behaviors we can control on our own and those that are the results of a broken system. Aligning management on this theory will create a safe environment to grow trust.
Align the management team on a plan for improvement:
When Management is aligned on a new way of thinking they need a new plan. The Hoshin Planning Process is the most effective method available to align a management team on a plan.T he Hoshin identifies the most important steps that must be taken to improve trust and it prioritizes them. This enables the Management Team and to work on the most improtant priority with full focus and energy. Focus is critical to making lasting changes.
